"Baeilou" names Mia Pixley's cello, as well as her seemingly baroque-folk and (sometimes) jazz inspired musical project. An Austin, Texas native, Mia is a cellist, composer, singer and songwriter living in Oakland, CA by way of New York City (her cello is a Bay Area native).

Most recently, Baeilou played cello on Fantastic Negrito’s second GRAMMY award-winning album Please Don’t Be Dead and toured with Windham Hill for their annual Winter Solstice Tour. She will be joining Windham Hill again next winter.

Baeilou looks forward to upcoming collaborations with percussionist/singer/composer Amelie Anna, arranger/guitarist/composer Nahuel Bronzini, and visual artist KW Shaw.

Mia also leads a seasonal musical book club: Bushwick Book Club Oakland, where each season a book is chosen and select songwriters read the book and write and perform a song inspired by the book. You can learn about the Bushwick Book Club Oakland here.

Mia holds a professional studies diploma in cello performance from San Francisco Conservatory of Music and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from CUNY Graduate Center. Mia cares about community, the arts, mental health and the environment.
